APB World Tour – Ready to Rumble

2015 celebrates an electrifying time for the sport of professional bodyboarding, as the Association of Professional Bodyboarders (APB) lines up an action packed tour for athletes & fans.

It’s a new year with a healthy mix of new and old venues and we look forward to another fantastic season of the world’s best riders in the world’s best waves.

2014 was the first full year of operations for the APB, and it was nothing short of fantastic, as the hardworking team reconstructs the sport after the demise of IBA in 2013.

The first three (3) events are confirmed for the South American leg with Itacoatiara in Brazil launching the competition season for the Men.

From there the tour rolls through Arica and into Antofagasta where both events will feature women’s divisions.

After a two year hiatus the tour will return down under to Australia in August when two key events (The Shark Island Challenge & The South Coast Crusade) merge together to create The East Coast Crusade.

The APB are also dealing with promoters in Tahiti & Maldives and as always confirmation of all sanctioned events will be 3 months prior to event start date.

The Sintra Portugal Pro will celebrate a 20-year anniversary in late September making it the longest running event in the sports history.

A new inclusion this year is Nazaré in Portugal -“THE NAZARE WORLD MASTERS” and this venue is sure to deliver some amazing wedges at the infamous Praia De Norte, made famous by big wave legend Jarrett McNamara.

The tail end of the tour will roll back through Brazil with the “Katherine Mello Pro 4 star” before ending in Puerto Rico – The Encanto Pro for what could be the biggest event in the sports history with $100,000 USD prize pool.

Last season saw a grand stand finish with all four 2014 World Champions being crowned at the Sintra Portugal Pro.

Men’s -Amaury Laverhne (Reunion)

Women’s – Alexandria Rinder (Canary)

Drop Knee – Dave Hubbard (Hawaii)

Pro Junior – Tristan Roberts (Sth Africa)

The whole world is poised and waiting to see what transpires & what this season delivers from the current APB Men’s Top 28 and also the Women’s, DK & Pro Junior.

APB shares the passion of our fans and look forward to bringing you the unmatched athleticism, exploration and the competitive theatre of professional bodyboarding once again in 2015.
