Hubb and Houston Win Encanto Pro & World Title
Isabela, Puerto Rico November 15
South African Jared Houston has won the 2015 APB Men’s World Championship and Jeff Hubbard wins the Encanto Pro Cultura.
Houston had a nail biting wait to see if French rider Pierre Luis Costes could snatch victory and the championship against Hawaiian Jeff Hubbard in the 30 minute final.
But Hubbard got off to a flying start and PLC was playing catch up until the final hooter.
“I can’t describe how happy I am right now,” said Houston.
“It’s a dream come true,” he added.
The Pro Junior Champion was local Abner De Arce with a final score of 12.55 against his rival Brazilian Socrates Santana.
Santana was also crowned 2015 APB World Junior Champion in a fairytale ending to his 2015 campaign.
Both De Arce and Santana won scholarships to participate in the event by the Fireflies Foundation led by the Cultura promoter Natasha Sagardia.
Third place in the Pro junior was won by David Barbosa of Brazil and the fourth Joaquín Soto of Chile.
In the Open Men’s final Hawaiian Jeff Hubbard scored a total of 17.00 against 2011 champ, Pierre Loiuse Costes (France) who finished second with a final score of 13.40.
This is Hubbard’s second time winning this event, after being victorious in 2012.
This was the fourth edition of the Encanto Pro Cultura and was a special moment for all as Jared Houston now lives in Puerto Rico.
The live broadcast surpassed the record of “live views” of past world events, confirming its place as one of the tours great contests.
Isabela delivered four intense days of competition and the event was attended by 23 countries and approximately 200 athletes.
The Encanto Pro Cultura will be back bigger & better in 2016.
