With a spectacular view, bright sunshine and perfect waves, the second day of the APB Bodyboarding Tour “Arica Chilean Challenge,” in Ex Alacrán Island was made.
The first heat, very early in the morning went to the French Reunion Island, Amaury Lavernhe, who reached 15.10 points, defeating Brazilian Socrates Santana with 14.37 and Diego Barrios sending them both to reparcharge round 2.
Then came the current defending champion of Arica Chilean Challenge 2015, the South African Jared Houston, who had excellent commitment with two huge invert airs, beating the legend of world bodyboarding, Mike Stewart and Moroccan Deigo Gamaz.
Then it was the turn of chilean Sacha Damjanic who managed to ride an incredible barrel, moving the Brazilian Hermano Castro to second place and another Chilean Matias Miranda of Arica to the relegation round 2.
Heat 4 saw the Argentine Nicolas Chiara, who scored 14.25, defeating Miguel Adao of Portugal, and one of the local favourites, Cristian “Popey” Fernández to also fight to stay alive in round 2.
Later the Brazilian Uri Valadao exploded on “El Gringo” with a big air forward spin, advancing with 16.30, sending fellow brazilian Eder Luciano and Portuguese Dino Carmo.
In the heat number 6, the duel drew sparks. Alan Muñoz, one of the favorites to clinch the ACC 2016, was relegated to second round by his friend and faithful follower, Nelson Flores, who scored 15.65 points, with the Chilean best of the day.

The next round, was hotly contested. The winner was the South African Tristan Roberts with 14.50, leaving other young guns Hawaiian Tanner McDaniel and Canarian Islander Kevin Orihuela to compete again round 2.
The next heat was also a fierce battle, the current leader on the world circuit, Jeff Hubbard of Hawaii, only just scraped into first position over Chilean Danton Correa with a score of 15.25 to Correa’s 15.00.
While in the final heat of the day, the Frenchman Pierre Louis Costes, gave the fans what they came to see launching himself in the air with a huge air forward scoring a perfect 10 point ride and then backing it up with an epic air reverse spin (9.00) to total his score of 19.00 points out of possible 20.00.
Tomorrow the call for competition is at 6:30 am, and the start of the women’s competition is also expected during the morning. The “Arica Chilean Challenge”
