The first day of competition at the Arica Chilean Challenge, stop number 4 of 8, 2016 APB World Championship Tour got underway today with trials round 1 and 2 in solid 6-8 foot waves at Flopo’s, Arica.
Some of the standouts from today were local favourite Francisco Alvarado, Canarian Islander’s Airam Cabrera and Kevin Orihuela, Moroccon Eric Gamaz, Tahitian Manea Fabisch, Puerto Rican Abner De Arce, Brazilian Ricardo Januario, Hawaiian Patrick Orr, Peruvian Yony Aguirre and the Chileans who also moved into tomorrow’s trials finals were Alexander Wittmann, Victor Lopez, Danton Correa, Michael Pascal, Diego Berrios, Cristian Tapia and Cristobal Sciaraffia.
Tomorrow will see the trials finals and Men’s round 1 commence at Arica at 7:00am (Chile time). The swell is expected to be in the solid 6-8 foot range which will create an exciting yet dangerous show.
