The 2016 Nazarè Pro went into overdrive today as a 6-10 feet swell thumped at North beach in Nazaré.

Today saw another huge day of action as competitors labored to keep their campaigns alive heading into the final day of competition.

Iain Campbell (Sth Africa) was victorious his battle with Miguel Adao (Portugal) courtesy of big solid lefts that allowed both surfers to post a handful of respectable scores, but it was Campbell that continued his good form through the European leg.

Local Dino Carmo posted a perfect 10 point ride in the early stages against Alan Munoz (Chile) Both surfers performed an array of mammoth moves but it was the Chilean Munoz that cemented a spot into the ¼ finals, which will be surfed tomorrow.

Dino’s perfect score was penciled in as the single highest wave score of the day, but he couldn’t back it up with a good second ride.

Another standout was Pierre Luis Costes (France) who won both his heats today with highflying backflips on some treacherous sections to also book a ¼ final berth.

Alex Uranga (Basque) & Mike Stewart (Hawaii) were also looked relaxed in the heavy sections with deep tubes & high end riding.

Today was super heavy, but from tonight the swell will drop slowly with all three genres pencilled in to compete tomorrow .

Tune in for the morning show tomorrow with Manny Vargas & the call team from 8.00am local time to see the worlds best in action.
