Saturday 2nd September 2017

1.5m Offshore

The seeds came into the event in Round three with Sari O’hara taking out the first heat with a couple of linking rides from out the back and a tube ride where she just made it out, only to have the pressure put on her in the last few minutes with everyone catching a counting wave, with Sari having the final ride which was a heat topping 9.25.

No surprises in the second heat with APB ratings leader and Japanese local Ayaka Suzuki beating the field by over 3.5 points. Her fourth Ride Scored a 9 with a series of spins on the outside before pulling into a tube and finishing with a strong roll.

The first upset almost came when Isabela Sousa had to rely on her last ride to move into second spot. “I hope this is my shocker for the event and I come out firing in the 5th round.” Souse said.  Miya Inoue was the outstanding with a couple of spin -roll combinations to hold the world champ at bay.

The Final round three heat saw Mayumi Kondo come out charging to take an early lead, with APB number 5 Joana Schenker waiting until the 10-minute mark before catching her first wave then with every wave she extend lead to win by 2.9.
