KIDS DAY OUT!!!
Itacoatiara, Brazil – 21 June, 2018
A special day in a child’s life! This is the best way to describe how this Wednesday was for the students of the Mar Alegre Municipal School. Through a partnership between the Municipal Education Foundation, INEA and Itacoatiara Pro, students participated in a series of activities this morning, including lectures on the environment followed by a practice session of bodyboarding with the best athletes in the world.
“I’m so happy to be a part of it. It’s not just about bodyboarding, but for everything positive in life for these kids. Some of them did not even know about bodyboarding, and being able to teach the basics of Bodyboarding to these kids is immeasurable. The smile on their face as they got the first waves is already worth too much, “says South African Iain Campbell, the current world champion.
In addition to Iain Campbell, the children also spent time with some of the top athletes on the World Tour like world champions Jared Houston (South Africa), Amaury Lavernhe (Reunion Island) and Pierre Louis Costes (France), as well as new generation talents such as Tanner McDaniel (Hawaii) and Tristan Roberts (South Africa). Jacob Romero (Hawaii), Lewy Finnegan (Australia), Maxime Castillo (France) and Antonio Cardoso (Portugal), as well the Brazilians João Zik, Kallani Latanzi and Dudu Pedra was involved in social project action.Dudu and Amaury lead the first part of the class teaching students the first basic bodyboarding moves before entering the water.
“As some of the boys did not know about bodyboarding, what we did was to pass the basic lessons and ensure the safe care of everyone. We asked who knew how to swim and who had already surfed. It was really cool, everyone had a lot of fun always accompanied by the athletes to get even more safety, “explains Dudu Pedra.
The next Itacoatiara Pro call is scheduled for Friday, but it appears that the event should be restarted on Saturday. Predictions are extremely optimistic for the last four days of the waiting period.
