The Fronton King event has been removed from the 2018 World Tour for significant reasons.
The APB and the current Fronton King event promoters could not agree on terms for this year to sanction the Fronton King as the final event of the 2018 World Tour therefore the Nazare Pro will be the final event this year for both the Men’s and Women’s Grand Slam Series.
First and foremost, we apologize to the Fans and athletes of the APB. This was a tough decision to make for the APB but we are now working on a solution for 2019 to see the event return to the world tour for our loyal fans, spectators and stakeholders. Fronton is an extremely important venue on the world tour as is the region of Canary Islands in terms of participation growth and expansion within our sport. “Alex Leon” CEO – APB World Tour…
Some of the critical facts to why the APB withdrew the event from the schedule this year was due to the event financial agreements including delayed staff payments of the 2017 event, issues with athlete water safety and other requirements that were not met on a satisfactory level for the athletes and officials.
The APB is now working with the government of Gran Canaria to ensure the return of the Fronton Event in 2019 and crowning our world champions in the Canary Islands at the end of the season.
