ABA (Australian Bodyboarding Association) PRESS RELEASE
The ABA would like to welcome everyone back for what is set to be another big year of competitive bodyboarding here in Australia…
Since you last heard from us, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes making some big changes in order to benefit our riders & our fans.
The most important change is that we have changed the format of our tour. It will now run as a “Triple Format” Series – this means for any competitor to be eligible to win the Australian Tour, they must compete at “all 3 events”.
The next big move for us is that we now have “waiting periods” for each of the events. The waiting period will start from the first Saturday of the events scheduled month & run through to the third Sunday. This give us a better opportunity of providing a better platform to showcase bodyboarding at its best. Essentially the events will still run over a weekend & will endeavour to give our members at least a “7 Day Notice Window” of us running the event.
We also have a number of alternative locations in place just in case the preferred location isn’t at its best.
The 2019 season will also expand to include Pro Dropknee, Pro Womens & Pro Mens at all event locations. There will however be minimum entry number requirements for these divisions to run…
The season will kick things off on the Gold Coast for the @choicehomesqueensland Queensland Pro Presented By Inverted Bodyboarding. The waiting period for this event opens on Saturday 6th April.
From there we will head to South Australia before wrapping up the season in NSW – stay tuned for final info on these events 🙂
